Latest Planting
Planted arugala, green streaks mustard, parsnip, caraway, cilantro (delfino and plain), dill, and new purple cabbage called Marner Lagerrot. We'll see if I can keep the flea beetles from stunting it...

neuSpring
Well into it.
Outside I have sprouted peas, spinach, lettuce, mache, radishes and a few amsterdam #2 carrots from last fall.
Seeded beets two nights ago. Raab and parsnip last night.
Grumolo type radicchio, red endive(which I never dug up) spinach, celery, kale, parsley all wintered over.
Volunteers include orach, yellow streaks mustard, some carrot.
Hardening off pansies, Fennel, stonecress(aubrietta).
Inside 56 pepper plants--7 to kezia yesterday-6 more to give away. 10 1/2 trays of flowers and herbs. Tomatos are in little 6 packets. Experimental in that I'll have to replant. Not sure whether they'll root out in time.
Bought 2 new lights and light bulbs so I can expand a little more.
Still to plant are the summer flowers--dahlia's, zinnias and the like. Cucumbers, Melons and Squash, and then the final planting for late summer of lettuces and escaroles radicchios etc.
Maybe, just maybe, got Phormium to sprout. Typical delphiniums didn't. Lots of whites for side bed and yellows for sandbox bed. Reds for U-bed. Penstemons have sprouted in most cases--but not to many. Looks like prince's plume just came up and I've got 4 crazy tall hibiscus. Done a fair amount of transplanting and thinning. Good work ethic thus far.
always a mixture of success and failure this time of the year.

winter harvest..not yet
harvest today
daikon
3 raddichios
viroflay spinach
winter spinach
curled parsley
endive head
cracoviensis
harvested 2 of the remaining 11 carrots. yummy. The kale and raddichios were under snow. They seem impervious. The radichios are by far the hardiest. Unvelievable.
First jar of canned beets is gone. Had tomato soup this week. N made bean dip from the beans from Last year. Dried beans this year were a total failure. The rattlesnake beans looked great but I didn't get them watered and all the beans are tine and "burned". must install irrigation system.
